I have just sent the attached Open Letter from people in the United States to people all over the world to the other members of the Security Council. The signatories support the disarmament of Iraq and an end to the era of weapons of mass destruction no matter who possesses them. I know that the position of the United States on some issues is currently far from that expressed in the letter - which was one of the reasons it was written as an open letter from people in the United States who are concerned about US policy to people everywhere. I respectfully urge you to consider advocating a change in US policy along the lines we suggest. We need the inspiration of Mahatma Gandhi and Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. to enter the halls of the United Nations at this difficult time in world affairs. We hope that you will help to make that happen.
