Arjun Makhijani, President of IEER, holds a Ph.D. in engineering (specialization: nuclear fusion) from the
University of California at Berkeley. He has produced many studies and articles on nuclear fuel
cycle related issues, including weapons production, testing, and nuclear waste, over the past
twenty years. He is the principal author of the first study ever done (completed in 1971) on
energy conservation potential in the U.S. economy. Most recently, Dr, Makhijani has authored Carbon-Free and Nuclear-Free: A Roadmap for U.S. Energy Policy
(RDR Books and IEER Press, 2007), the first analysis of a transition to a U.S. economy based completely on renewable energy, without any use of fossil fuels or nuclear power. He is the principal editor of Nuclear Wastelands
and the principal author of Mending the Ozone Hole,
both published by MIT Press.

Hugh Haskell, Senior Science Fellow, is Instructor of Physics, emeritus, at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif. Lisa Ledwidge, Outreach Director, United States, Coordinator of IEER's Healthy from the Start Campaign, and Editor of Science for Democratic Action holds an M.S. in environmental science and an M.P.A. in public affairs from Indiana University's School of Public and Environmental Affairs. She received a B.S. in Biology from Eastern Michigan University. She telecommutes from Bath, Maine. Annie Makhijani, Project Scientist, has an M.S. in chemistry from the University of Maryland. She has done research on ozone layer protection and nuclear chemistry, including environmental chemistry, specifically. She is a co-author of IEER's report on fissile materials disposition and of several reports on ozone layer protection. Christina Mills, Staff Scientist and Policy Analyst, received her B.A. in Biology from St. Olaf College and her J.D. from Hamline University School of Law. She coordinates IEER's Minnesota work and has worked on energy issues since 2008. She is also a member of the Women of Wind Energy National Mentoring Committee. Prior to joining IEER, Christina worked with Windustry promoting policies to support community-based wind projects. She telecommutes from Minneapolis, Minnesota.
